Dear BMS Members,

Changes that are happening within the British Mule Society are in common with many other organisations as Covid changed the way that we went about our lives. We managed to carry on communicating via Zoom but our usual summer weekend rally and the annual AGM for members were both victims in 2020 and 2021. The on-going legacy of Covid has had repercussions also and as our small membership is spread so far across the country it has been decided to scale down BMS activities to our core values.

Our main aim as a charity has always been the preservation and promotion of mules, which we will look to do on a more electronic platform. To this end we have decided to stop producing the magazine and holding events. We will however still be maintaining a website where advice on all things mule will be available. Sarah our highly experienced welfare officer will continue as a point of contact in cooperation with Societies and Charities who provide care for cases of neglect or need.

We have a few projects which have been on hold for a couple of years, both involving archive material. One is a planned collaboration with the Royal Army Veterinary Corp, to get our previous journals scanned for our records and we also hope to slowly upload excerpts plus other archive source material held onto our website in order to reach a wider audience.

There will be no subscriptions due in January 2024 as a result of these changes. If you wish to continue to support the BMS any future receipts will be counted as donations.

Thank you for your support.
